The story of Tokyo Ghoul follows Ken Kaneki, who barely survives a deadly encounter with Rize Kamishiro, a woman who is revealed to be a ghoul, a human-like creature that hunts and devours human flesh, and is taken to the hospital in critical condition. After recovering, Kaneki discovers that somehow he underwent a surgery that transformed him into a half-ghoul,

 

and just like them, must consume human flesh to survive as well. With no one else to turn to, he is taken in by the ghouls who manage the coffee shop "Anteiku", who teach him to deal with his new life as a half-human/half-ghoul, including interacting with ghoul society and its conflicting factions, while striving to keep his identity secret from other humans.^[2]

The prequel series Tokyo Ghoul: JACK follows the youths of Kishou Arima and Taishi Fura, two characters from the main series who become acquainted when they join forces to investigate the death of Taishi's friend by the hands of a ghoul, leading to Taishi eventually following Arima's path and joining the CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul), the federal agency tasked into dealing with crimes related to ghouls as well.

The sequel series Tokyo Ghoul:re follows an amnesiac Kaneki under the new identity of Haise Sasaki, the leader of a special team of CCG investigators called "Quinx Squad", that underwent a similar procedure as his, allowing them to obtain the special abilities of Ghouls in order to fight them, but still being able to live as normal humans. - Wikipedia

 

The suspense horror/dark fantasy story is set in Tokyo, which is haunted by mysterious "ghouls" who are devouring humans. People are gripped by the fear of these ghouls whose identities are masked in mystery. An ordinary college student named Kaneki encounters

This is an anime from the last summer season and now back with their second season in this winter with the name of "Tokyo Ghoul root A".

Maybe some of you noticed that Kaneki's kagune (tail-like thing) is the same as Rize's. Actually kagune vary in models and designs. The reason that Kaneki has the same kagune as Rize is because that Rize's organs are transplanted to Kaneki's human body because of an accident when Rize was trying to devour Kaneki. (hyper spoiler)

And because Kaneki is supposed to be a normal human but transplanted with ghoul's organs, it made him half-human and half-ghoul. Which was kind of cool and scary at the same time. It's like you're still wanting to eat burgers but it taste like crap and when you're really hungry you crave for human's meat.

Sometimes when you're too hungry you just can do anything that would take to take the hunger away, like a ghoul.

So ghouls are like human, they have their own races as well. Their races varies in status of their own, some of them are speed ghouls like Touka. As in speed, they're fast, but low in stamina. The statuses are like every other online games you may or may not have played before. Every ghouls possesses a kagune of their own which some of it looked like tails or maybe wings. Of course, when there's a "bad thing" that a human considered there's a anti-"bad thing" corporation, CCG (Commission of Counter Ghouls), or you can say like police for ghouls. Some of you maybe thinking that how does the CCGs investigators fights with the ghouls? The answer is that whenever they killed a ghoul, they take their kagune and transformed it into a thing named quinques.
